INDIAN INSTITUTE OF FASHION TECHNOLOGY, BANGALORE, one of the top Fashion Designing Colleges in Bangalore had organised an ‘’AWARENESS PROGRAMME” on Eye & Organ Donation recently , TO INCULCATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND VALUES AMONG YOUNG MINDS .
The programme was organised by IIFT, Bangalore on account of celebration of Founders day on 23rd Feb,2018 to commemorate the birth anniversary of IIFT’s Founder Chairman & Director Late Sri.B.Vedhagiri.

Blindness is one of the most distressing human situation and sadly also one of the disabilities with more number of people involved. In many of the developing nations, blindness is about one percentage of the total population. India has more than one third of the world’s 39 million visually challenged people, which is 15 million people. India had only 53,000 corneas being collected in 2015, whereas the need for new corneal transplants in the country is about 140,000. Thus about 100,000 persons are added to the list of persons who are waiting for a transplant.
To continue with the awareness programme and To inculcate the importance of Eye Pledging in the minds of their students , Indian Institute of Fashion Technology, among other events that will be conducted on their Founders day which is scheduled on 23rd February,2018 , a ‘’Fashion show on Blind Walk “ has organised Eye Pledging/Donation initiative where students of IIFT will walk on the ramp in a Fashion Show with blindfolded eyes to highlight the beauty of having eyes to see the beauty of the Fashion world. ‘’ THE WORLD IS NOTHING BUT FASHION, BUT FASHION IS NOTHING WITHOUT EYESIGHT’’.
Also, the highlight of the event is another sequence of Fashion show depicting the importance of organ donation is organised where students of IIFT, Bangalore has worked on an innovative project of sketching and painting organs on T-Shirt and walk on the ramp.
“LIVE LIFE, PASS IT ON’’, ‘’ BE AN ORGAN DONOR, ALL IT COSTS IS A LITTLE LOVE’’.
A Blood Donation Camp is also organised through Rotary Bangalore, Southwest where IIFT students have volunteered to donate blood on the occasion of Founder’s Day on 23rd Feb,2018.
