Indian Institute of Fashion Technology (IIFT), Bangalore run by BVG Educational Trust organized a workshop for empowering underprivileged children.

With the motto of integrating social objectives in its growth and development, IIFT was founded by the late Sri B Vedhagiri in the year 2001. Since then, the Institute has worked towards various social causes.

IIFT, Bangalore celebrates Founder's Day by conducting various social activities, for the benefit of society and to ignite social commitment among the students of IIFT.

During the previous few years, IIFT conducted Blood Donation Camp through Rotary club Bangalore, wherein staff members and students of IIFT donated blood.

In one of the celebrations, IIFT staff members and students pledged their organs during Organ Donation Camp.

Once, Faculties and students invited housewives of Economically Weaker Sections from nearby localities and trained them on embroidery and block printing skills on Kurtis and the finished garments were sold to the general public and the proceed of the sale were distributed among the participants to motivate them to continue the work.

For the last years Founder's Day, IIFT organized a free training program for underprivileged girl children staying in SO Care Ind. More than 50 girl children participated in the workshop and staff and students of IIFT trained the girl children in making hand pouches, key chains with simple embellishment on the pouches.

Every year, IIFT carries out such social activities to commemorate the Institute's Founder's Day on 23rd February & to uphold the ideals of late Shri B Vedhagiri.

This year also, IIFT organized a free workshop on 14 Feb 2021, at an NGO - SPARSHA TRUST, with the help of Faculty Members and Student Volunteers of IIFT. During this workshop, 70 inmates(girls & boys) of the Trust, were trained on SCREEN PRINTING & STENCIL PRINTING, for making of WALL HANGINGS. The purpose of the training is to empower inmates with the skill of printing and empower students for involvement in social service activities. Mrs. Srilakshmi - Asst.Professor and other faculty members who were involved in training these children along with students of IIFT said they were excited by seeing the involvement and enthusiasm of these children in learning and also their level of interest. They are very proud of their students too who had given their best in training these children who are younger than them thereby inculcating social responsibilities amongst students who are our future India.

This Year Indian Institute of Fashion Technology organized a free training program for underprivileged girl children staying in So Care Ind. The event was incepted for girls in the age group of 13 to 18 years, who are from economically weaker section of the society. More than 50 girls came together to participate in the workshop carrying out hand pouches and key making activities with simple embellishment on the pouches. The event was conducted at the premises of So Care India at Peenya. Around 15 students of the Indian Institute of Fashion Technology and 4 Faculties participated and transferred the knowledge to the girls at the So Care home.

This free training program was held to commemorate the Institute’s Founder, as every year 23rd February is observed as Founder's Day and celebrated to uphold the ideals of late Shri B Vedhagiri.

The primary motive of the training program was to provide underprivileged girl children with tangible lessons and skills relating to the fundamentals of the industry, the market, and fashion design in general. It also furnished participants with the acceptance and the encouragement they may require to hone their skills, nurture their talents and use the creations that will empower them to sustain their livelihood and support themselves and their families.

Ms.Barani Andal, Vice Principal & Ms.Srilakshmi, Assistant Professor of Indian Institute of Fashion Technology, Bangalore who were involved in training these girl children along with students of Indian Institute of Fashion Technology, Bangalore said they are excited by seeing the involvement and enthusiasm of these girls in learning and also their level of interest. They are very proud of their students too who had given their best in training these girls who are younger than them thereby inculcating social responsibilities amongst students who are our future India.

Also, on the day of founders day i.e on 23rd February 2020, the Indian Institute of Fashion Technology College has organized a Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid training through Manipal Hospital, Bangalore. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is an emergency procedure that combines chest compressions often with artificial ventilation in an effort to manually preserve intact brain function until further measures are taken to restore spontaneous blood circulation and breathing in a person who is in cardiac arrest. Training the students and staff of the college will not only benefit the family members but also other common people who may need the emergency procedure.

IIFT celebrated Founder's Day on 23rd Feb to commemorate the birth anniversary of the Founder Sri.B.Vedhagiri. With the motto of integrating social objectives in its growth and development, IIFT had organized Women Empowerment Program wherein 45 needy women had participated in a 5 days workshop and they were trained by our faculties and Students on Block Printing, Jewellery making, and Hand Embroidery.

The embellished garments were sold to the public on Founders day and the sale proceeds were handed over to the needy women who participated in the workshop to promote Women Entrepreneurship and to motivate them to take up entrepreneurial work.

Indian Institute of Fashion Technology, one of the top Fashion Designing Colleges in Bangalore had organized an "Awareness Programme" on Eye & Organ Donation recently, to inculcate social responsibilities & values among young minds.

The program was organized by IIFT, Bangalore on account of the celebration of Founders day on 23rd Feb 2018 to commemorate the birth anniversary of IIFT's Founder Chairman & Director Late Sri.B.Vedhagiri.

Indian Institute of Fashion Technology has organized blood donation and eye & organ pledging camp on 23rd February 2018 through Rotary Club, Bangalore

Eminent Speakers from Rotary Club had explained and enlightened the staff and students of IIFT on Eye Pledging and Organ Donation.

Blindness is one of the most distressing human situations and sadly also one of the disabilities with more people involved. In many of the developing nations, blindness is about one percent of the total population. India has more than one-third of the world's 39 million visually challenged people, which is 15 million people. India had only 53,000 corneas being collected in 2015, whereas the need for new corneal transplants in the country is about 140,000. Thus about 100,000 persons are added to the list of persons who are waiting for a transplant.

To continue with the awareness program and To inculcate the importance of Eye Pledging in the minds of their students, the Indian Institute of Fashion Technology, among other events conducted a "Fashion show on Blind Walk" and organized an Eye Pledging/Donation initiative where students of IIFT walked on the ramp in a Fashion Show with blindfolded eyes to highlight the beauty of having eyes to see the beauty of the Fashion world. "THE WORLD IS NOTHING BUT FASHION, BUT FASHION IS NOTHING WITHOUT EYESIGHT".

Also, the highlight of the event was another sequence of Fashion shows depicting the importance of organ donation where students of IIFT, Bangalore worked on an innovative project of sketching and painting organs on T-Shirt and walk on the ramp.

"LIVE LIFE, PASS IT ON; BE AN ORGAN DONOR, ALL IT COSTS IS A LITTLE LOVE".

A Blood Donation Camp was also organized where IIFT students volunteered to donate blood on the occasion of Founder's Day on 23rd Feb.

"EXCUSES NEVER SAVES A LIFE. BLOOD DONATION DOES".

This is an activity initiated by IIFT COLLEGE OF FASHION & an NGO to create awareness about cleanliness. The main aim was to beautify the walls of the school and encourage the children to maintain cleanliness. Our college students played a major role in this activity and joined their hands to clean, paint the wall, and made nice artwork on the indoor and outer walls of the school campus.

This activity helped our students to know their social responsibility towards education and cleanliness. This activity was recognized and appreciated by the NGO and school staff.

Though it has been raining plenty in Bangalore, the situation is different 150 km away in villages. The idea of a seed ball campaign is a proven approach to grow plants in drought-hit areas.

Seed balls are an innovative solution to grow plants with very little water. Seeds packed in a nutritious encasing germinate into a full-blown plant in the sown environment with minimal intervention.

IIFT staff and students joined hands with an NGO in this campaign of seed ball making.
